Looking for a fun grammar activity to practice the rule for articles a and an? These pages get students thinking about whether “a” or “an” should be used before a noun. They are perfect for 1st grade grammar stations, ESL and special education.

No prep is needed, just print and go. Students will read the sentences with the help of the pictures. They will either write “a” or “an” in the blank or they may cut and paste using those at the bottom of the page. Vowels are printed in the lower right corner as a reference for students who need it.
